The Alhambra is not one building, it is a full walled city on a hilltop. The general ticket gives access to three main areas: the Nazaries Palaces with a strict timed slot, the Generalife gardens, and the Alcazaba fortress. The Palace of Charles V and the Alhambra Museum are free.

How to book direct tickets
Official tickets are sold at tickets.alhambra-patronato.es. The site releases tickets 3 months in advance. In high season, the 2 to 3 most popular timeslots sell out in the first 24 hours. You must enter the passport or ID number of every visitor. Bring that same document on the day.
What to do if the Alhambra is sold out

- Dobla de Oro tickets: Sometimes still available when the standard ticket is gone.
- Early morning resale: Unsold slots sometimes reappear online around 8 AM the day before.

Alhambra tips that will save your visit
- Bring the exact ID you used to book. No document, no entry.
- Arrive 30 minutes before your Nazaries slot, there is a 10 minute walk from the ticket office.
- Start with the Alcazaba and Generalife if your Nazaries slot is in the afternoon.
- Wear comfortable shoes, the complex is hilly and cobbled.
- Bring water and sunscreen, shade is limited and summer is very hot.

Frequently asked questions
Book Alhambra tickets at least 2 to 3 months in advance for high season (April to June, October). For summer and Semana Santa, 3 to 4 months is safer. If you decide last minute, check skip-the-line tours, they keep reserved slots even when the official site shows sold out.
Yes. The standard Alhambra general ticket for 18 EUR includes the Nazaries Palaces, the Generalife gardens and the Alcazaba. The Charles V Palace and the Alhambra Museum are free to visit. The only ticket that does NOT include the Nazaries is the Gardens-only ticket, which is cheaper but a less complete experience.
The timed entry is strict. Staff will deny entry if you arrive more than 30 minutes after your slot. Arrive at the Nazaries entrance 10 minutes before your time, and use the Alcazaba or Generalife to fill time if you get there early.
In theory yes, there is a small onsite kiosk, but in practice tickets are gone by 9 AM every day in high season. Do not rely on the kiosk. Book online or use a skip-the-line tour.
